Get Started

A Thoughtful Beginning Matters

Beginning a financial advisory relationship is a significant decision.

At Christian Planning, we believe the process of getting started should be clear, unhurried, and respectful — with no pressure to move forward before both sides are confident the fit is right.

Step 1: An Introductory Conversation

The first step is a brief introductory conversation, typically held by phone or video.

This conversation is designed to:

Learn about your situation and what prompted your interest

Answer high-level questions about our approach

Explore whether our philosophy and services align with your needs

It is not:

A sales presentation

A product discussion

A commitment to move assets or engage services

Many people find this conversation helpful even if they ultimately decide not to move forward.

Step 2: Determining Fit

If there appears to be a mutual fit, we’ll discuss whether it makes sense to explore a formal planning engagement.

Fit depends on several factors, including:

The nature and complexity of your financial decisions

Whether our approach aligns with your expectations

The kind of advisory relationship you’re seeking

We are transparent when we believe another path may be more appropriate.

Step 3: Engagement and Planning

If you choose to move forward, we’ll outline:

The scope of services

How we work together

How fees are structured

What information is needed to begin

Only after these details are clearly understood would any formal engagement begin.

What We Believe About the Process

We believe:

Good decisions require time

Pressure is rarely a sign of wisdom

Clarity matters more than speed

Trust is built gradually

For this reason, we encourage prospective clients to take the time they need to discern next steps.

Common Questions at This Stage

Do you review what’s currently in my portfolio?

Yes. Many introductory conversations include a high-level discussion of existing investments to help clients understand what they own.

More detailed portfolio analysis or screening occurs only within a formal planning engagement and only when appropriate to the client’s goals and convictions.

No. There is no expectation or requirement to move assets during introductory conversations.

No. Specific recommendations are only made within the context of a formal planning engagement.

Many people who contact us do. An introductory conversation can still be helpful in exploring whether a different approach might be appropriate.

It is not scripted and it is not imposed. Our theological convictions shape how we define success, how we understand risk, how we think about generosity, and how we approach the conversations underneath the numbers. If a client wants to pray together or discuss a specific passage of Scripture, we welcome that. If they prefer a planning relationship that is shaped by these convictions without explicit religious conversation, that is equally welcome. The integration is in the framework, not the format.

A Thoughtful Invitation
